_Each qualification's status — current, expiring, expired, missing — derives from its expiry date. Invitations go out from the job and come back answered._

# Qualifications expire on their own.

The expired certification surfaces before the morning of the event, because its status comes from a date rather than from someone remembering.

- **Capabilities and qualifications.** What a person can do — chemist, driver, bulking, traffic — and what they hold: HAZWOPER, DOT hazmat, and the qualifications you define. Each qualification's status derives from its expiry date.
- **Invitations, not text threads.** Invitations go out from the job and come back accepted, declined or no-show. Candidates are ranked by distance from the site. Reminder replies are on the record.
- **Pay, rates, travel.** Pay categories, groups, hourly or day rates and travel are on the person, and the job's staff cost comes from them.
- **On the day.** The task board puts crew on stations. The job record shows who is coming, by task, and who is still needed.

## Questions

### How does Mercovi know a certification has expired?

Each qualification carries its expiry date, and its status — current, expiring, expired, missing — is derived from that date whenever it is shown. Nobody updates a status by hand, so the staffing screen shows the live state beside every candidate, and a person whose training lapsed last week is flagged before the invitation goes out.

### How are crew invited to an event?

From the job's staffing screen: candidates are listed nearest first with their qualification status, selected and invited. Replies — accepted, declined, no-show — come back onto the job, with reminders for those who have not replied, so on the morning of an [HHW event](/hhw) the crew list is the record of who actually said yes.

The eight records: [Clients and sites](/platform/clients-sites) · [Waste catalog](/platform/waste-catalog) · [Waste profiles](/platform/profiles) · [Manifests](/platform/manifests) · [Crew](/platform/crew) · [Billing](/platform/billing) · [Reports](/platform/reports) · [Configuration](/platform/configuration)

- ‹ Previous — **Manifests** Any RCRA code on a waste makes it a Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest. Nobody picks the form from a dropdown, and the manifest tracking number lands back on the job. [Manifests](/platform/manifests)
- Next › — **Billing** One number, one source. The bill is priced from the client's own table, the report counts on the same basis, and the portal shows the client the same figure. [Billing](/platform/billing)
