_The form is computed from the waste codes; continuation sheets when lines run over; transporter registrations; e-Manifest status on the record._

# The form is computed, not chosen.

Any RCRA code on a waste makes it a Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest. Nobody picks the form from a dropdown, and the manifest tracking number lands back on the job.

- **Templates become instances.** A site holds manifest templates — generator, transporters, designated facility, the lines. Each job started there gets its own copy, which becomes a real, numbered manifest when the job ships.
- **Computed from the codes.** Any RCRA code on a waste makes it a Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest; otherwise it is a non-hazardous shipping manifest. Continuation sheets are added when the lines run over.
- **One per designated facility.** Drums or containers going to two facilities go on two manifests, which is why a job's manifest count is not always one.
- **Transporters and signatures.** Transporters carry their state registrations with expiry dates. The signatures — generator, transporter, facility on receipt — are on the record, and so are the EPA e-Manifest status and the MTN.

## A manifest record.

Parties with their EPA IDs, lines with their codes and the facility's approval number, the signatures, and the e-Manifest status, submission method and tracking number on the record. The MTN is where the job is.

## Questions

### How does Mercovi decide which manifest form to use?

From the waste codes. Any RCRA code on a waste on the shipment makes it a [Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest](/glossary#uniform-hazardous-waste-manifest), EPA Form 8700-22, with a continuation sheet when the lines run over. Without RCRA codes it is a non-hazardous shipping manifest. Nobody picks the form: it is computed from the lines, and there is one per [designated facility](/compliance#manifest).

### What does the EPA e-Manifest integration do?

The manifest's EPA e-Manifest status, submission method and tracking number are on the record, so the MTN is where the job is rather than in an inbox. The [compliance page](/compliance#emanifest) states it at the precision that is true, and the [e-Manifest page](/e-manifest) explains the system, who signs what, and what [a broker](/broker) may do.

The eight records: [Clients and sites](/platform/clients-sites) · [Waste catalog](/platform/waste-catalog) · [Waste profiles](/platform/profiles) · [Manifests](/platform/manifests) · [Crew](/platform/crew) · [Billing](/platform/billing) · [Reports](/platform/reports) · [Configuration](/platform/configuration)

- ‹ Previous — **Waste profiles** A material profile data sheet per stream, kept as a record rather than a PDF in a folder — and started, for commercial clients, by the person who knows the material. [Waste profiles](/platform/profiles)
- Next › — **Crew** The expired certification surfaces before the morning of the event, because its status comes from a date rather than from someone remembering. [Crew](/platform/crew)
